Hyderabad Considers Personal Rapid Transit to Boost Metro Connectivity
By MediaFx
Hyderabad is considering the introduction of a Personal Rapid Transit System (PRTS) to improve last-mile connectivity for Metro commuters and reduce traffic congestion. The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) Managing Director, Sarfaraz Ahmed, announced this during a stakeholder workshop on October 27. The initiative follows directives from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to explore innovative and sustainable solutions for urban mobility. A techno-economic feasibility study has been conducted under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with input from LEA Associates South Asia Pvt Ltd. The PRTS aims to offer a reliable, environment-friendly, and technology-driven mobility option, helping increase Metro ridership and ease road congestion in growing urban areas. Feedback is being gathered from government and private stakeholders to move the project forward.
